AgStar gives donation to Initiative Foundation
$2,500 given to Little Falls organization

MANKATO, Minn. (May 18, 2011) – The AgStar Fund for Rural America, a corporate giving program of AgStar Financial Services, recently contributed $2,500 to the Initiative Foundation of Little Falls to support its endowment, a long-term charitable investment that provides maximum flexibility to address local community and economic needs.

“We are very pleased to be working with the Initiative Foundation to help support worthwhile projects,” said Melanie Olson, Fund Administrator. “AgStar appreciates the important work they are doing, making a difference in the lives of rural Minnesotans.”

The Initiative Foundation exists to improve the quality of life in central Minnesota. At the core of its work is the belief that local people possess the talent, passion and ability to achieve a brighter future. Its programs and investments strive to give every person an opportunity to contribute to a shared vision and plan of action that strengthens community character and relationships.

"We are proud to know AgStar as a partner and friend of central Minnesota communities and we greatly appreciate its latest investment to strengthen our rural economy," said Kathy Gaalswyk, Initiative Foundation president. "This generous gift to our permanent endowment will support working families and thriving communities."

The AgStar Fund gave a total of $10,000 to the four Initiative Foundations in AgStar’s 69 county service area. The other three Initiatives are the Northland Foundation of Duluth, the Southwest Initiative Foundation of Hutchinson and the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation of Owatonna. The monies have been offered annually since 2007. Since its inception in 2001, the AgStar Fund has donated more than $3 million to organizations working to improve the future of rural America.
