AgStar Fund for Rural America Awards $20,000 in Scholarships
Rewarding 20 students for their accomplishments and pursuit of education in agriculture

 Mankato, Minn. (June 1, 2009) – AgStar Financial Services’ Fund for Rural America, a corporate-giving program, is pleased to announce the scholarship recipients of 2009. The fund awarded $20,000 to high school seniors pursuing their education in agriculture or related fields this fall.

The AgStar Fund has grown to give a total of $20,000.Each recipient received a $1,000 scholarship toward their education. Receipts were graduating seniors throughout AgStar’s Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin territory.  Over 300 applications were reviewed and recipients were chosen based on their superior academic achievement, vocational promise, community service and leadership skills.

 “AgStar is proud to have such worthy recipients and congratulate each one of them for their achievements,” said Jody Bloemke, fund administrator. “With the future of agriculture in the hands’ of these students, great opportunities are yet to come.”
