AgStar Home Sponsors 4-H Scholarships
$2,000 was committed to 4-H for their Purple Ribbon Auction

Mankato, Minn. (September 13, 2010) – AgStar Home is proud to present scholarships to four area students, supporting Minnesota’s 4-H Purple Ribbon Auction Scholarship program. These students have shown leadership, achievement and a desire to succeed through their involvement in a 4-H livestock project. A total of 18 scholarships were awarded through the Minnesota 4-H Purple Ribbon Auction.

“Recognizing 4-H’s role in developing young leaders, AgStar Home is proud to sponsor scholarships to four area 4-H youth,” stated Jenny Doering, Regional Team Leader with AgStar Home. “Youth involved in 4-H develop leadership skills they’ll use throughout their lives. We’re proud of these individuals, and are happy to support their ambitions to continue their education.”

With the help of the Minnesota Livestock Breeders Association (MLBA), the scholarships were coordinated and awarded to 4-H members at the Minnesota State Fair. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship. Half of the funding is derived from premiums raised at the state fair auction and those dollars are matched by sponsors supporting the industry. In order to qualify for the scholarship, individuals must be a 4-H member, have completed high school by 2010, and be working toward a post-secondary degree.
